In this adorable pop culture re-telling of Cinderella, Ella is the orphaned daughter of the founder of a huge sci-fi convention and her prince is Darien is the teen star who has just been cast in the big screen adaptation of Ella’s favorite classic sci-fi television show, Starfield.  The two have to overcome all sorts of obstacles (evil stepmothers, bad press, a job working at a pumpkin food truck, etc.) to find each other at the convention’s closing ball before they are separated at midnight.  Poston’s cosplay fairytale is just a little fluffy with a touch of sweetness and a whole lot of sci-fi nerdiness that makes it the perfect book to read on a road trip.

Kylie is fearful of what is waiting for her at the camp designed to help trouble youths however Kiley is shocked to learn that the camp is actually designated to helping supernaturals with their gifts.  She soon discovers that she not only possess a mystical power but it is so rare that no one can identity it.  Hunter’s series about teen paranormals traversing love and angst is just fun with a lot of fabulous snarky moments as well as a perfect amount of sizzling romance which makes it the perfect book to take to take on a camping trip.

22205This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
Remy has never been able to trust men. Her father disappeared before she was born leaving her unable to consider having a real relationship. Then the summer before college she meets Dexter a wonderfully goofy musician who makes her want to fall in love.  Sarah Dessen is the master of the perfect summer read.  Her books are filled with realistic emotional growth and wonderfully romantic interactions and “This Lullaby” has always been my favorite.  Remy and Dexter’s relationship with its ups and downs feels so real and true and I found myself rooting for them from the first page.  Everything in this book comes together to make the absolutely perfect book to read on a sunny day at the beach.
