Hi All! It’s Becky, again. I have a soft spot for romance audio book. There is just something about the mindless good time a romance audio book offers that makes my commute seem to go so much quicker. I was thrilled when I got the new Emma Chase book through audible. I have been a fan of the past books in this series (you can read my reviews here and here) so I had high expectations for this one and I was not disappointed.
Title: Royally Yours
Author: Emma Chase
Note: I listened to the audio book.
Summary: Princess Lenora has spent her whole life preparing to someday be the first Queen of Wesco. She knows what’s expected of her and she is more then ready to take on the role. However, when she is crowned at 19 she didn’t expect parliament to push her to find a prince. When Edward Rourke reappears years after abandoning his family’s title and wealth he finds himself drawn to the young Queen. As the two spend more time together they will learn the rules of court, the real way to run a country, and, just maybe, what it is like to fall in love in the spotlight.
Review: I will admit I was slightly annoyed when I first read the description for this book. I has expected Chase to write the story of the next generation of Pembrokes who were introduced in Royally Raised but instead she went back to the beginning of the family’s tale. However, I will admit that I was very wrong to be annoyed or hesitant. I was quickly won over by the story of Lenora and Edward. Chase has masterfully created a backstory worthy of the Queen Lenora that fans of this series have grown to love while introducing us the never-before-seen Prince Edward. The two characters meet and quickly become each other’s perfect romantic foils with their moments of teasing, romance, and love playing out perfectly. Chase beautifully balances humor, sizzle, and sweet tender moments to make a book that feels like a love story instead of just a romance novel. Their story of happiness and sorrow while trying to traverse a political minefield is slightly addictive and one that I highly recommend.
Final Rating: 4 out of 5
