Becky’s Most Anticipated Books of 2019

Hi All!  It’s Becky.  2018 is almost over which, for me, means a whole bunch of new books coming out in 2019.  Here is just a brief list of the books I’m most looking forward to next year.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
Release Date: January 15

I was a huge fan of Chokshi’s Aru Shah and the End of Times.  I thought it was one of the best middle grade books of 2018.  I can barely wait to read the first book in her new YA series that sounds like it’s part mystery, part secret-society tale, and, I’m sure, all sorts of awesome.

Only a Breath Apart by Katie McGarry
Release Date: January 22

I have been a huge fan of Katie McGarry since I read Pushing the Limits way back in July of 2013.  I can not wait for McGarry’s new book.  I expect Only a Breath Apart to be filled with sweet romantic moments, awesome characters, and an addictive story.

Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers
Release Date: February 5

I loved LaFevers His Fair Assassins Series so Courting Darkness at the top of my To-Read List. I’m looking forward to a dark tale filled with strong characters and possibly romance.   Plus, that cover is gorgeous.

Rayne and Delilah’s Midnite Matinee by Jeff Zentner
Release Date: February 26

The Serpent King is one of my all time favorite YA books so I will basically read anything Zentner puts out into the world.   Rayne and Delilah’s Midnite Matinee is about growing up and learning your place in the world and it’s guaranteed to be beautifully poetic like all of Zentner’s books.

You Owe Me a Murder by Eileen Cook
Release Date: March 5

Eileen Cook is one of my favorite YA authors.  Her mystery books are always a fast fun read and I’m hoping You Owe Me a Murder won’t be different.  Plus, it’s based on one of my all time favorite movies Strangers on a Train.

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston
Release Date: April 2

I loved Ashley Poston’s Geekerella and I have to read the companion novel The Princess and the Fangirl.  This book is going to be an adorable, geeky, good time.

The Red Scrolls of Magic/ Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
Release Date: April 2/Unknown

Cassandra Clare has two new series in 2019!  I’m looking forward to reading Chain of Gold about Tessa and Will Herondale’s children however I can not wait to read The Red Scrolls of Magic.  Alec and Magnus have become my favorite part of the Shadowhunter Universe and I can’t wait to read more of their story.

The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen
June 4

Sarah Dessen has a new book!  I have been reading her books since I was in high school and I know that The Rest of the Story will have wonderfully well written characters going through realistic issues in a story that is extraordinarily well written.

Start Here by Trish Doller
August 13

I am a big fan of Trish Doller’s books.  Her characters are fabulous and their stories grab me from the first page and never let me go.  I have high hopes for Start Here and I hope that it lives up to my expectations.

Hope and Other Punchlines by Julie Buxbaum
Unknown 2019

Tell Me Three Things was one of my favorite YA books of 2016 and it made Julie Buxbaum one of my must read authors.  I’m looking forward to her book about two teens who connect over their shared tragedy.
