Hiya everyone, it’s Sarah!
Lisa Graff shows up on my TBR list several times and the other book I have read by her I really enjoyed. I was excited when I saw that her newest book was getting Newbery buzz and I am hoping that she will get that acknowledgement this year.
I received this eARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
CJ’s aunt Nic is a celebrity psychic medium. The two travel across the country to give readings at sold out arenas. Hopefully, Aunt Nic will soon get a tv show and they will be set with money for awhile. According to Aunt Nic, CJ’s mom has gone to the far away and she isn’t able to talk to her dead mother as regularly as she would like. CJ has a chance to find an anchor or an object that will strongly tie her to her mother, so she takes a fellow teen worker to go on a quest to find the object. Along the way, she is forced to confront some truths and lies about her past.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the relationship between the aunt and CJ. I found the plot super interesting. The writing seemed to be solidly on level with Graff’s other books. I am always in the mood for a road trip book, but the added bonus of spirits brought it to a whole new level.
