How it Feels to Float by Helena Fox

Hey everyone, it’s Sarah!

I received this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Biz. Biz has alot going on. She has never had a romantic interest before, but when she kisses her best friend, Grace, their relationship becomes strained. In attempt to move on, Biz considers hooking up with someone else in their friend group, but at the last minute decides against it. He lies and says that more happened than did, and another in their friend group becomes jealous. Biz is iced out, but what hurts the most is that she was maybe kinda interested in Jasper, a new guy at school who is part of this friend group. Biz’s mental stability becomes uncertain after this blowup. While she has seen and talked to her dead father for years, her desperation to find him, because she knows he is still alive, ramps up to a destructive desperation to travel across the country to find him.

I feel like I never got to know any of the characters because I spent so much time in Biz’s head interacting with her father. I certainly appreciate the perspective on mental health and the sometimes bumpy journey to finding health. I just wish I could have gotten to know this world better because I found myself unclear throughout the book.
