Hi All! It’s Becky. I was recently rearranging my book shelves and I found an ARC of Thundercluk! Chicken of Thor by Paul Tiller IV. I’m not sure where or when I got the ARC but I knew I had to move it to the top of TBR list.
Title: Thundercluk!: Chicken of Thor
Author: Paul Tillery IV
Note: I listened to the audio book.
Summary: Thundercluk was born of Thor’s pet chicken on Asgard where he lived a good life. However, an evil chef has designs on the special chicken and Thundercluk must be hidden among the vikings on Earth. Yet, when the gods face a new threat Thundercluck will return to his home and team up with his friend, Brunhilde, to save the day.
Review: Okay, so I will admit I wasn’t sure what to expect but this book turned out to be a silly fun read perfect for middle grade readers. Thundercluk is a surprisingly relatable character for a chicken. He isn’t sure where he fits into the world and he is afraid of a lot of stuff which makes him similar to most tweens. Plus, Tillery added just enough adventure and intrigue to make this a great book for those fans of Rick Riordan who are always looking for the next read-a-like. The book is fast paced and laugh out loud funny which will make it a hit with middle-grader readers.
Final Rating: 3 out of 5
