I Hate You More by Alexandra Moody

Hi Everyone!  It’s Becky, again.  I was looking for a fun and fast audiobook on Overdrive and I found I Hate You More by Alexandra Moody.  I really hoped that I would love this book but I barely got to like.  Here are my thoughts:

Summary: Ally Lockwood really doesn’t like Chase Williams.  Chase may be Ally’s twin brother’s best friend and one of the most popular boys in their high school but to Ally, he’s just an annoyance.  She spends every day trying to avoid him which becomes much more difficult when Chase moves into the Lockwood’s guest bedroom.  Ally decides she will do whatever it takes to get rid of Chase even if that means getting him to want to date her.  Ally is willing to do what it takes to get Chase evicted but what will happen when she realizes she may want him to stay.

Review:  This book should have been everything I needed to get me out of a mini-book rut but instead it didn’t quite work for me.  Ally and Chase’s from hate to love relationship is the stuff that usually makes me love a book but I never got over how they treated each other.  Chase came across as an average, if not a little oblivious, boy but Ally was just kind of mean.  She seemed to enjoy tormenting Chase and Moody made her come off as a little unreasonable.  I wanted to ship these two but instead, I was just kind of “meh” about it.  Plus, Moody managed to hit on one of my newest pet peeves, non-American authors setting their books in the US and not quite getting it right.  Every time someone said something about Ally’s diary (instead of calendar) or they used the term corridor (instead of hallway) I cringed.  Normally, I wouldn’t even notice but about halfway through the book, I had gotten annoyed with Ally and her hijinks which made every little irritant much worst.  Don’t get me wrong, there were parts of this book that were cute and there are readers who are going to enjoy the fluffy romance aspect of this book however I would have liked a whole lot more story.

Final Rating: 3 out of 5
