Hey everyone, it’s Sarah!
I have so many young patrons visiting the library looking for alternatives to Raina, since they have read everything by her. I have finally got around to reading two for my arsenal.
Author: Dana Simpson
Phoebe struggles with making friends and really doing alot of things. However, one day, her clumsy nature ended in the best way. She hits a unicorn in the face, thus saving the unicorn and being granted a wish. Phoebe wants the unicorn to be her best friend and do best friend things. While the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, has a super ego, the two become great best friends. This novel was super funny! It felt like an updated version of Calvin and Hobbes and will be a fun ride for young female readers.
Title: Nat Enough (Nat Enough 1)
Author: Maria Scrivan
In this new series about Nat, we learn that Nat’s best friend has moved away the summer before middle school. When Nat arrives on the first day, she finds that her best friend no longer wants to be friends. Nat considers doing whatever she can to get her friend back. Instead, Nat just continues to be herself and finds her stride. It was a standard middle school growing pains book that reminded me of Invisible Emmie.
