What’s Your Sign: Books for Aries

Hello everyone, it’s Becky. Welcome to the second day of spring!  Its the time of year that we welcome sunny skies and warm weather but it is also the first day of the astrological sign Aries.  Aries is a fire sign known for courageous, confident, charismatic, thrill-seekers and enthusiastic however at times they can be short-tempered, impetuous and proud.  Aries are known to be good leaders and enjoy physical challenges and individual sports.  They are a complex and complicated group.  Now let’s get to the books!

In the final book of Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, new Shadow Hunter  Clary Fray must enter the final battle against her greatest foe…her brother Sebastian. In a journey that literally takes the Shadow Hunters into Hell, they must team up to save the Nephilim, down worlders, and mortals.

Aries Traits: Anyone who has ever read any of Clare’s books know that this series has one of the most confident and charismatic characters in the literary world in the form of Jace Herondale.  Plus, Jace and all of his Shadow Hunter brethren are major thrill-seekers.   And let’s not forget that Aries is a fire sign and the titular Heavenly Fire plays a major role in the story.

Olivia Kennedy was a junior figure skating gold medalist however after several disappointments she has put her skates away. Jonah Choi is an up and coming speed skating with his eye on a gold medal. Jonah’s family moves to Phoenix and he starts practicing at the skating rink owned by Olivia’s gold medalist parents. The two quickly connect and romance blooms but can they keep their dreams and their relationship.

Aries Traits: Olivia is a textbook Aries.  She is an award-winning figure skater which means she is great at indvidual sports. Plus, Olivia’s pride causes her problems which may result in her and Jonah splitting ways or her losing her chance at a comeback.

Eliza is having a very bad night.  The boy, Cooper Marriatti, she was falling for turned out to be a jerk who was using her as part of a game.  Cooper and his group of friends humiliated Eliza.  The same group of friends who have found her secret journal where Eliza has carefully documented all of her secrets including bucket lists of dares for herself.  Now, Eliza must fulfill her list of dares unless she wants secrets to share with everyone.

Aries Traits: This book is all about seeking the thrill of the moment.  Eliza has to overcome her anxiety to conquer her greatest fears.  The whole book is all about Eliza learning to courageous enough to live up to her fear.  Plus, Cooper is all sorts of charismatic and confident that makes him the perfect YA love interest.


Slayer by Kiersten White
Athena “Nina” and her twin sister Artemis are the daughters of two watchers. They have spent most of their lives living with Watchers or at the Watcher’s Council headquarters however since Buffy destroyed the Seed of Wonder and the Watcher Council was attacked they don’t really have anything to watch. But when a hellhound attacks Nina’s latent powers appear making her the last slayer. Nina’s life gets even more complicated when the adorable Watcher in training, Leo, appears and is assigned to train her.

Aries Trait: This book is filled with Aries traits.  The watchers are all very confident and many (especially Leo) are very charismatic.  Plus, all of the characters are natural leaders.  Also, these are characters whose jobs are to killed demons so there is a lot of thrill-seeking behavior.
