48613333Title: The One and Only Bob (One and Only Ivan)

Author: Katherine Applegate

Book Summary:

In the sequel to the One and Only Ivan, the reader follows Bob, the dog. Each of our animal friends from the first novel have found new homes and built new family relationships. Bob found his furever home and is still able to visit Ivan and Ruby. His town is preparing to be hit by a hurricane and there are serious concerns about keeping everyone safe. As Bob is helping out, he hears a bark from his past and goes on a journey to find the dog that belongs to the sound. Family comes from all directions and Bob is going to try to complete his family.

Newbery Considerations:

As with the first novel, Applegate shows her talents with writing. Descriptions and characters are well-developed and unique. Bob’s voice is as distinct as Ivan’s was.
