Reading on the Road: Awesome Road Trip Books!

Hi Everyone!  It’s Becky, again.  The summer is almost over but there is still time to take a socially distant road trip.  Here is a list of books to get you into a traveling state of mind.

Field Notes On Love by Jennifer E. Smith
Hugo Wilkinson has a problem. He was supposed to go on a train trip across the United States with his girlfriend Margret Campbell but she broke up with him and now Hugo can’t use the trip tickets which are in her name. Hugo is desperate and posts an ad online looking for another Margaret Campbell to use the tickets and he does. Hugo finds Margaret “Mae” Campbell an aspiring filmmaker who is looking for her own adventure. The two will spend a week on a train together which may lead to way more.

Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody
Ali’s father disappeared six years ago. He left her and her mother without a backward look. His only legacy is the huge amount of debt he left. Now, Ali and her mother are just days away from losing their home and Ali is desperate to find a solution and one appears when Ali’s father leaves her his prized 1968 Firebird convertible. Ali knows the car will save them and she has even found a buyer but there is just one problem. Ali doesn’t know how to drive the classic car’s standard transmission. Ali only knows one person who can drive a stick shift… her ex-boyfriend, Nico. Nico agrees to help Ali get the car to the buyer however Nico has a counteroffer. Instead of selling the car, Nico thinks they can trade items they find on Craigslist to earn the money Ali needs. Ali reluctantly agrees and the two start a journey up the west coast to try to save Ali’s home and possibly salvage their broken relationship.

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
Simon Snow did what all great heroes do, he defeated the villain and fell in love, but Simon feels unsettled.  He doesn’t want to attend university and his relationship with Baz doesn’t seem to be going as well as he would like.  Simon needs a change and his best friend, Penny, has the perfect idea: Simon, Baz, and Penny are going to take a road trip across the United States to visit their friend (and Simon’s ex), Agatha.  It was a simple plan that will quickly be derailed by broken relationships, bands of mythical creatures, and a whole lot of bad vampires.

Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
Addie is looking forward to spending the summer with her friend Lina in Italy but first, she has to go to her aunt’s wedding in Ireland. But at the wedding, Addie’s plans get derailed and now she has found herself on a road trip through Ireland with her brother and the adorable Rowan.
