2021 ALA Youth Media Awards Announced!

The awards have been announced!  The winners are:

Printz Award: Everything Sad Is Untrue (a true story) written by Daniel Nayeri
Newbery Award: When You Trap a Tiger written by Tae Keller
Caldecott Award: We Are Water Protectors illustrated by Michaela Goade

Printz Honors Recipient Dragon Hoops by Gene Luen Yang was featured on our Youtube Channel.

Sarah reviewed Newbery Honors and Odyssey Honors winner Fighting Words by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley.

Alex Award winner The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune appeared on our Youtube Channel.


Becky reviewed Catherine’s War by Julia Billet, illustrated by Claire Fauvel and translated by Ivanka Hahnenberger which received Mildred L. Batchelder Award Honors.

Becky reviewed Odyssey Medal winner Kent State Deborah Wiles.

Becky and Sarah reviewed Efrén Divided by Ernesto Cisneros that won the Pura Belpré Children’s Author Award.

We featured two Stonewall Honor books:

Honor book Darius the Great Deserves Better by Adib Khorram was featured on our Youtube Channel.


Becky and Sarah both reviewed You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson.

We featured two Morrison Honors Books:
The Black Kids by Christina Hammonds Reed was featured by Becky on our Mock Mondays and was also reviewed by Sarah.

We had so much fun this year trying to find the best in children and teen literature. We are already searching for books for 2022 mocks and will be back next week with our first selction!
