Becky’s Most Anticipated Books of the Second Half of 2021

The first half of 2021 had some amazing books! Here is a shortlist of books I can’t wait to read in the second part of 2021.

Any Way the Blows by Rainbow Rowell
Release Date: July 6

I loved the first two books in Rainbow Rowell’s Simon Snow series, and I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series. The last book in the trilogy will resolve what happens to Simon, Baz, Penny, and Agatha. I can’t wait to find out if Simon and Baz stay together or what happens in the Mage world.

The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson
Release Date: June 15

Maureen Johnson is a master storyteller, and her first three Truly Devious books were great mysteries filled with twists and turns. The newest book follows Stevie when she is hired to solve the murder of four camp counselors that took place in 1974. I’m looking forward to reading a book filled with mystery, intrigue, and a little romance.

Witch Please by Ann Aguirre
Release Date:
September 7

Not gonna lie, I noticed this book because of the title, but the description hooked me. The book follows Danica, a witch who gets involved with Titus, an unlucky in love baker. The book promises to be filled with magic and romance, and it sounds nifty.

Frankie & Bug by Gayle Forman
Release Date: October 12

Gayle Forman has a middle-grade book! The book is about Bug, a ten-year-old girl who befriends a trans boy who is new in town. I am looking forward to reading a well-written, heartfelt novel, and I know I won’t be disappointed.

The Nobelman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee
Release Date:
November 17

I thought Mackenzi Lee’s Montague Sibling series was over. I was sad, I mourned, and then I found out there was going to be another book! The story moves ahead ten years, and we follow Adrian, the youngest Montague sibling when he finds out about his long-lost siblings and goes on a mission to find them to turn over the estate he doesn’t want.
