Hi All! It’s Becky. A few months ago, I went through a phase when I was requesting way too many books from NetGalley. One of those books was Winning Back His Runaway Bride by Jessica Gilmore. I finally got a chance to read this book, and it was what I expected.
Title: Winning Back His Runaway Bride
Author: Jessica Gilmore
Note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Summary: Charlotte and Matteo met, fell in love, and got married in a whirlwind romance. Charlotte gave Matteo her heart only to feel neglected. The two filed for divorce within a year of their wedding. Charlotte is shocked when she receives a call from the hospital telling her Matteo has been in an accident and doesn’t remember the last year. Charlotte agrees to play his doting fiance to help Matteo recover but, as they spend time together, she can’t stop her heart from falling for him again.
Review: Winning Back His Runaway Bride was exactly what I expected, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Charlotte and Matteo are a classic romantic pairing; he is a wealthy dashing businessman, and she is a free spirit. Their romance is passionate, and they declare their love often. The book is without any surprises, and I’m okay with that. Matteo and Charlotte follow the expected path from estrangement to reconciliation, and it was a great book for escapism. The book is a mindless read while you follow the loves to Italy on their journey to rekindling their relationship. The story is simple, the characters familiar, and their story predictable, but if you, like me, need a fluffy romance ever so often, you should consider this one.
Final Rating: 3 out of 5
