What We’re Excited About: June Books!

Hi All! We have finally said goodbye to the winter doldrums and the warm weather has found even us in the midwest. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate nice weather than with some hot new releases.

Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon
Release Date: June 3

I always forget that Nicola Yoon has only released two novels; her writing is so amazing I always think she has more books. I am thrilled that her third novel comes out this May. Her latest book, Instructions for Dancing, is about Evie, a girl who doesn’t believe in love until she meets X, a boy that is impossible to not fall for. This book looks like it is going to be filled with swoony romance and I can’t wait to read it.

The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson
Release Date: June 15

I am a big fan of Maureen Johnson’s books. I love her characters, and how her mysteries are perfectly plotted. I can’t wait to read the next book in her Truly Devious serious. I am excited to follow Stevie as she tries to solve a new mystery while at summer camp. I’m expecting a story filled with twists and turns, and I know I won’t be disappointed.

That Weekend by Kara Thomas
Release Date: June 29

Kara Thomas is a master at writing dark and twisted mysteries, and her new book likes it not going to be any different.  That Weekend about a girl who wakes up covered in blood on a hiking trail with no memory of what happens to her friends sounds like it will be the perfect blend of mystery and horror. The book is at the top of my TBR list, and I know it is a must read.

All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O’Donoghue

I was hooked by an astute tarot reader. I am fascinated by tarot cards and love when they are integrated into a book. When a classmate pulls a mysterious card and then shortly after, disappears. The main character is going to need the help of the cards to find her.

The Lucky List by Rachael Lippincott

Release Date: June 1st

Emily and her mom were always lucky, with their special quarter at the bingo hall. However, after Emily’s mom dies of cancer, nothing seems to go right. The summer before her senior year, Emily’s father is selling her house and getting rid of her mom’s things, leaving her with nothing. Until, Emily finds her mom’s bucket list from senior year, which she is determined to complete. I really liked Five Feet Apart and have high hopes for this book.

Eat Your Heart Out by Kelly DeVos

Release Date: June 29th

Vee is forcibly sent to fat camp. When she arrives things don’t seem right and shortly after zombies overrun the camp. Soon, Vee and the other campers will be fighting for their lives. I enjoyed DeVos’s previous novels and I am excited for another apocalyptic adventure. I especially like the body positivity aspect of this book.
